Getty In Motion

The assignment was to bring priceless Getty art to cities around Los Angeles, without removing it from their museums. The art and antiquities were digitally scanned and CBS-VFX produced a 32-minute, custom edited montage, highlighting some of the Getty museums’ greatest works onto 11 high resolution outdoor digital screens. The creative presentation, inspired by the Ken Burns documentary editorial style, was engagingly designed to appear across the 65-foot-wide video curved arc.

The visual effects team deconstructed and creatively put into motion the elements of each collection. Sound design and music were added to enhance the immersion and overall emotion for the viewer.

The majestic beauty of the Villa and Getty Center were captured by CBS-VFX’s RTK drone photography team. Beautifully filmed exteriors with custom flying camera rigs, the crew created dreamy points of view and brought the dynamic pieces of architecture to life.

The second festival exhibit was the Getty 3D Interactive iPad Experience. CBS-VFX chose six Getty antiquities that were laser scanned and rebuilt into photo real 3D models. These statues, vases, and busts were loaded into a custom-built AR app. CBS’s scene shop constructed four custom outdoor booths with museum styled pedestals. The team supplied five iPads so guests could walk around the pedestals and see the 3D objects appear on their device. This hands-on experience gave a close sense of engagement into the ancient past.

Photo Booth

The third exhibit we were involved with, a special photo booth with layered photos and physical props, allowed participants to pose and appear inside the art at their favorite Getty location or painting. They were given instant prints and emailed digital copies available for social media sharing.
